Dapper Cat Comics #22 - "Never Gets Less Irritating"

Magikarp, you're the joke of the Pokemon world, but you sure are fun to draw.

Dapper Cat Comics #21 - "T Has Long Hair"

I love my long hair but... it gets into everything!! The above scene happens with uncomfortable frequency.

Dapper Cat Comics #19 - "Subway attractions"

In this comic we also see that the artist doesn't really know how to draw the faces of babies. But seriously, this man on the subway had a crazy-large watch.

Sneak Peek--Felix cards

These are so much fun to make, and watercolor pencils are my new best friend. There is silly text that goes with each, since these were originally planned as Valentine's Day cards, but why should we be limited to one day to show our affection for others?

Eyesore portrait

Another Tegaki monstrosity. I... I don't know what I was thinking. Were the back ache and hurting eyes worth it?

Science, no! What have you done??

My own earth warden sketch on the left, and my manipulation on the right. Thank you, Google image search. This was an experiment, fairly rushed, but it amuses me.

I'm available for freelance work. Hint hint.

Tegaki lady

There's something about Tegaki that makes me want to experiment with styles and such. So, yeah. But more importantly:

New hat! Thank you, E!!!

Looks like rain

My latest Tegaki E post. I had in mind how I want to learn fashion illustration to maybe get a job in that field. The long proportions are fun to draw.

The Lost Circus - A summary.

We personally did not get any photos, but you can see some press ones here: Metromix (E and I are #43) and Time Out NY (E and the Doubtful Guest are #8). And the lovely Babs got some beautiful photos of the bands Copal and Vagabond Opera. Check out her blog here.

Speaking of music--phenomenal! Copal was haunting and beautiful. Vagabond Opera was hilarious and had everyone groovin'. But... but... then there was Sxip Shirey. And he blew our minds.

There were SO many stunningly dressed individuals and couples at the Lost Circus. I was at once in love and nervous as hell. I did manage to chat with a few lovely folks without feeling like a total social failure. But, guh--so many personalities. I mean OH MAN the magical photographer. I do believe it was between sets, E and I were standing around, when a young man stood near us and kept glancing over. He finally asks if he could talk a photograph; we of course agreed. The best part though... He had been carrying a suitcase around this whole time. He then asked me to hold it out for him to open. It was set on my outstretched arms, then he snapped it open and... and MAGIC!! A light from within the case cast an eerie golden glow on his face as he pulled out a very nice and old camera. And he was very quiet the entire time. It was just such a thrilling moment.

I wish I was better with articulating verbally, but... yeah, I hope you get the idea that The Lost Circus by Gemini and Scorpio was an absolute blast. Here's to many more fabulous parties in the future!

The Lost Circus--antici... pation.

I'm super excited about this event tonight. It's been so long since I've gotten all dressed up with friends. Most of Apartment Jones will be going, plus our lovely Babs. I'm still not sure what to do about my hair. I have so much of it!!

Anyway. The Lost Circus offers to be really amazing--music, burlesque, bellydancing, aerial acts, contortionists--so.... eeee!! <3 Hopefully there will be a follow-up post with photos.

Tegaki background doodle

I like Tegaki's background option, though you're limited to the Tegaki canvas. So, I went with something that would look more or less "natural" since images are automatically justified to the bottom left of the page. Check it at my Tegaki blog, and write/draw to me if you're on there! =)

Living in NYC has been okay, except for me being wiped out by a cold. Everyone else in Apartment Jones seemed to get over it with little difficulty. But nooo, I had miss a bunch of days due to notable fatigue and increased sensitivity to motion sickness and anything that I consumed. I dislike missing so many days of work. I fell better now, but the cough always takes so long to go away. Boo.

Dapper Cat Comics #18 - "Being a Grown-up"

Sometimes, I'm good at capturing the likeness of another. Other times... well, we just don't speak of those times. I'm so sorry, E.

Just some irregularly scheduled blog tweaks

The look of the Dapper Cat Carnival blog may be a bit of an eye sore for x time as I learn how to make layouts and set code. In the meantime, I hope you're rocking hard in this summer heat. \m/

Dapper Cat Comics #17 - "T-boarding"

Hey peeps! I'm living in New York City now with E and the rest of the Apartment Jones crew. It's been one week. So far, I like it. It's overwhelming, fascinating, beautiful and disgusting. Ah, people. Anyway, today I want to learn how to skateboard because my four other roommates all love to travel by longboard. I'm still partial to scooters, but I'm slowly learning here.

Dapper Cat Comics #16 - "The Way to the Future"

If only post-graduate life was really so hopeful.

dA Portfolio

Ah, Jian. I'll miss ya.

Just saying, I have a new section up. Select works from my Figure Drawing class. Hoorah.

Dapper Cat Comics #15 - "Hanana Love"

I wanted the banana comic to have a happy ending. I think this also neatly depicts my relationship with E--bizarre and awkward but we complement each other well, resulting in cute.

Dapper Cat Comics #14 - "Hanana"

I realized I've been trying too hard with comics. I have a bunch written down, all scripted and paneled, but as soon as I write them down, I lose the motivation for it. So to hell with that method. Every day I have these minor but brilliantly absurd moments that make for way better comics. So, ta da!

Dapper Cat Comics #12 - "Hairball"

Oh yeah... I had this plan thing to do regular webcomics. Well, this was a spur of a moment comic, flaws in abundance. But I like it.

Sunday, February 14, 2010

I... I don't remember drawing this... I know it was part of my Digital Paint class a year ago. We had to do a drawing a day. I quickly feel behind. However, some weird stuff spawned from it.

I'm hungry

I do eat. But I also stay up well past the hour of closing of all dining halls. So I'm left to consume the fruit I swipe from there. It is insufficient satiation.

Vomit imagination!

I love this video so much. Just thought I'd share it with what few readers I have. Be inspired!

Starving Artist

I suppose after posting this entry, I should go dine...

Dapper Cat Comics #11 - "Hula Hoop Champ"

I love getting rainbow colors in the game as soon as possible. Unfortunately, this is usually at the cost of my side muscles. Those are some kick-arse cramps.

Just sayin'

First week of school passed. It might be a bit heavy, but I will find time for comics and such. I actually have lots of scripts and ideas written down. And two comics unfinished. One that I don't know how I want to color (I think I have a terrible eye for matching colors), and another that just isn't scanned or colored. I think I'll resume activity on my Tegaki blog. I can do some of the simpler comics there.

Also, I've added links to the right here; you can check out my other places on the web. Some need updating but yeah.

By the way, I'm in NYC... again. Surprise visit. E freaked. It was awesome.

Dapper Cat Comics #10 - "Felix vs. Viva Piñata"

Eh, working in Crayola colored pencils... I'm very pleased with the layout, at least. The drawings are messy, but I find it kind of endearing.

I'm terribly off schedule. NYC was hectic (but good), then I had to waste a day on the bus coming back. Never... again... Anyway, now I have less than a week before traveling again. Back to college with me!

Dapper Cat Comics #8 - "Cuddle Complications #1"

Ah, yes... We are quite goofy late at night. I have another Cuddle Complications in mind... featuring my hair. I have a lot of it.

Also, this is far far from an accurate representation of E's room. Not enough books, posters, random knick-knacks. And their apartment is really twisty.

Dapper Cat Comics #7 - "Flying In"

Because I am extending my stay in NYC, I will be returning to the regular schedule, more or less. These next few/many comics will be directly or indirectly based on the people and events of Apartment Jones, home of Tryptich, Sarif Sound, and N. Tepp Enterprises. Also, yay for a return to traditional means! I am without my computer and tablet, so I am mooching pens from E.
